Rome, the eternal city. Who couldn't love such a place? Steeped in thousands of years of history, covered in architecture that has inspired the world and food to die for! This course aims to show you how to photograph this wonderful place in a way which unforgettable.
The basic goal of this 4 day course course is to bring you to 4 great locations to shoot 3 dusk and 1 dawn sessions with expert guidance provided by your Photography Tutor. Areas covered by the tutor will include use of the correct camera settings (including use of Raw files), graduated neutral density and polarising filters as well as good tripod use.
The following afternoon of each session will comprise a 3 hour tutorial in Photoshop/Lightroom where we will show you how to squeeze the extra 10% out of your shots. We will do this by using key techniques such as cataloguing and initial processing of your shots in Lightroom in 16 bit mode followed instruction in the use of adjustment layers in Photoshop CS3 to adjust colour balance, levels, curves etc. Use of the cloning and gradient tools and final conversion to 8 bit mode is also covered.
To allow you maximum flexibility in your outward and inward bound times the tour price does not include flights, but it does include accommodation in a 3 star business hotel with breakfast included in central Rome. All rooms are booked on a single occupancy basis but non-photographer travel partners will be able to share rooms for an extra charge. Please note that, except in the case of wheelchair bound attendees, non-photographer travel partners will not be allowed to attend the shooting or computer training sessions.
Travel around Rome will be via the Metro, so a good level of fitness will be required. Wheelchair bound photographers will be most welcome, but they must be accompanied by a paying helper for the duration of the course. If photographers have special difficulties, such as hearing or other mobility issues please don't hesitate to give us a call so we can discuss your requirements.
Mornings will be free for you to lounge around or explore more of the eternal city by yourself.
Getting there
Flights are not inlcuded in the package price, but from Dublin the best time option seems to be to use
Aer Lingus to Rome Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci) which departs at 07:00 and arrives at 11:00 on Friday the 19th and use Ryanair back (Ciampino Airport) which departs at 17:00 and arrives back in Dublin at 19:05.
From Stanstead London Airport Ryanair currently have 5 flights a day, so plenty to choose from there.
